👨‍🏫 ADVISORY BOARD

Dr. Mohammad Shattal

Dr. Shattal is currently the Program Chair for the Bachelor’s in Cloud Computing and the Lead Faculty of IT in the Department of Computing Sciences and Mathematics at Franklin University. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the ElectroScience Lab and as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science Engineering at The Ohio State University. A recognized expert in cloud computing, communications, and electrical engineering, Dr. Shattal is an active member of IEEE and ACM and holds multiple Microsoft certifications, including MCSA, MCP, and MCT.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Shattal serves as a peer reviewer for prominent journals such as IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and IEEE Access. He has also participated as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for internationally renowned conferences like IEEE VTC and BROADNETs. 

Dr. Vinoth Babu Kumaravelu

Vinoth Babu Kumaravelu works as a Professor Grade 2 in the Department of Communication Engineering, School of Electronics Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. In 2014, he received his PhD in MIMO-OFDM-based wireless communication from the Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. In 2009, he graduated with an M.Tech. in Communication Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. During his M.Tech degree, he won the gold medal. He was awarded merit scholarships twice during his master’s degree at Vellore Institute of Technology for securing high grades.

Nguyen Trong Thuong

 

We are delighted to welcome Mr. Nguyễn Trọng Thưởng as one of the nice judges for the Ohio For STEM Hackathon 2025. Mr. Thưởng earned his B.Sc. in Computer Network & Communications from Eastern International University, Vietnam (2016), and his M.S. in Computer Science from Chung Hua University, Taiwan (2019).

With a decade of experience as both a technician and a business professional at Vietnam Technology & Telecommunication JSC, Mr. Thưởng brings deep expertise in computer networks and software development. Throughout his academic and professional career, he has contributed to numerous innovative projects and research endeavors. His commitment to advancing technology and education makes him a valuable addition to this year’s event

Dr. Dinh-Thuan Do

Dr. Dinh-Thuan Do was a visiting Ph.D. student at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan (2009-2010). He was a Department Chair of Communications Engineering Department, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2011-2013). Eventually, he was a founder and established a research group, namely Wireless Communications Research Group in 2016. Prior to working as an Assistant Professor of Computer and Electrical Engineering at University of Mount Union, he worked with University of Colorado Denver, The University of Texas at Austin and Asia University (Taiwan). 

Dr. Thuan was the recipient of the 2015 Golden Globe Award by the Ministry of Science and Technology (top 10 outstanding scientists nationwide). 

Dr. JUN-JIAT TIANG

JUN-JIAT TIANG obtained his first degree in electronics engineering from Multimedia University, Malaysia. He earned his Master’s degree and Ph. D University of Science, Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) respectively. He worked as an Electronics Engineer in Global Technology Development Group, Motorola Technology Sdn. Bhd., Penang, Malaysia (May. 2006 – May.2007) and Design Automation Engineer in Chipset Structural Design Team, Intel Microelectronics (M) Sdn. Bhd., Pulau Pinang, Malaysia (Sep. 2004 – Jul. 2005). Currently, he is a senior lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University, Malaysia. His research interests include RFID, microwave circuits, antenna and propagation. In the past, he was awarded a Gold Medal at the 23rd International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2012, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (17-19 May 2012). He has also received Silver Medal at the Malaysian Technology Expo (MTE) 2013, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 21-23 February 2013. He has vast experience in being a project leader in various research grants such as the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) (2008-2010), Mini Fund 2016 and TM R&D grant (2019-2020).

Do Gia Khang 

He has actively contributed to various projects involving AI, Internet of Things, and education, and continuously seeks opportunities to create meaningful change through leadership and collaboration in various projects such as Ohio Hacks, VietResCon.

Doan Van Quyet 

Doan Van Quyet is a student at VNU-HCM High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City with a strong passion for finance, mathematics, and technology. Guided by curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, he actively explores opportunities that expand both his technical expertise and practical understanding of the world. His interests are reflected in his leadership as President of Shark Club, the economics club at PTNK, as well as his participation in hackathons and other hands-on initiatives. With a deep appreciation for analytical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, Quyet is especially interested in how innovative solutions can be applied to create meaningful real-world impact. Through his academic and extracurricular pursuits, he hopes to contribute to a more ambitious, innovative, and forward-thinking student community.

Nguyen Bao Khoi

With a deep passion for technology, he worked with a team of 24 mentors across Vietnam and other countries like the United States or Turkey  and received mentorship from Prof. Thuan Dinh Do (University of Mount Union, Ohio USA) and Prof. Houbing Herbert Song (University of Maryland, Baltimore County, USA) to organize Tiny Machine Learning Bootcamp (TinyTensor) which is a program providing foundational knowledge of machine learning and its application through accessible bootcamps. 

Le Nguyen Nhu Phuc

She is with her passion and enthusiasm in creating a unique competition for Vietnamese students. She and her teammates have been working together to make a playground for those who want to gain knowledge and experience. She is a Co – president of Ohio for Stem Hackathon

Tran Nhat Vu

He worked alongside a team of 24 mentors to organize the Tiny Machine Learning Bootcamp (TinyTensor), a program aimed to introduce the foundational concepts of machine learning and its applications to students through accessible bootcamps, helping them learn the basics of machine learning in a simple, easy-to-understand and practical way. During this project, the team was mentored by Prof. Thuan Dinh Do (University of Mount Union, Ohio) and Prof. Houbing Herbert Song (University of Maryland, Baltimore County).
